Hi Lynn,

Thanks so much for the kind words! The labels are my own invention, as far as I know. I doubt it's completely original though.

It would be great to see you at Cast!

Zachary,

I stumbled across your blog while searching on feedback techniques. I recognized your name and couldn't place it immediately. Then I figured it out. You recently tweeted on being accepted to present at the CAST 2010 Conference and I in turn had started following you.

Back to the blog feedback...I really enjoyed both this entry and the Passive Feedback entry. I see great synergy in my thought processes around feedback although I had not labeled my approaches as Active vs Passive. I am curious, are these labels you have defined? I did some further research and did not find any other references to the labels.

Interestingly enough I too am presenting at CAST on a session related to assessing your value as a tester. As part of this session I speak to the techniques in which you can gather feedback. I would like to incorporate your labels of active and passive feedback and provide due credit.

I look forward to hearing back from you and hopefully connecting in person at this year's CAST conference.

Cheers,
Lynn

A solid read. Thanks.
This article got my mind working on this daunting task. My challenge is asking for user feedback on broken links (or missing links) on a beta search engine. Granted, these users will be annoyed or turn-off at the time and I am trying to figure out how to gain their empathy.
